Welcome to the Special Education Services area of the Grace School District’s web site.
Students are referred to Special Education after general education interventions have been exhausted. A building level Response to Intervention Tam (RTI) will try Positive Behavior Supports, differentiated instruction, and modifications to appropriate curriculum in the student’s general education classroom before making a referral to the school’s Evaluation Team.
The Evaluation Team, which always includes the parent, determines whether or not the child is a person with a disability and whether or not the child meets eligibility for Special Education under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Special Education serves students ages 3-21. The IEP Team makes all placements in Special Education. IDEA requires that placements be made in the least restrictive environment.
We offer a wide range of programs serving students from preschool through age 21 that address a variety of student and family needs and concerns. Our program goals, curriculum and materials are developmentally appropriate and focused towards meeting the individual needs of students.
