What is a foundation?

Foundations are charitable, non-profit, tax-exempt organizations whose primary purpose is to support a wide variety of charitable causes. They are created by gifts of cash, stock, life, property, or other resources from individuals, families, and corporations who wish to dedicate some of their private resources for a specific cause or need.
