AR Weekly Test Results of Student Achievement
Grace Junior High uses the Accelerated Reader Program which is a supplement to the regular reading program.
At the start of the school year students take a short assessment test that accurately determines their Grace Equivalent reading level and zone of reading in which the student can read with optimal comprehension.
The student that chooses a book in that reading zone from a list of over 2000 titles from the Grace Junior/Senior High library.
Upon completion of the book they take a computerized test of from 5 to 10 multiple choice questions to test their understanding of the book.
The computer awards points based on the length and difficulty of the book. These points can be used as part of the reading grade.
As students read more their reading ability will improve and they will be able to read more longer and more challenging books
Students should read at home for at least 20 to 30 minutes each day.
