What is Global
warming?
Global warming
is the increase of the average temperature of the Earth's near-
surface. In the last 100 years, the global average air temperature by the Earth's
surface has rose .74 + 0.18 degrees Celsius. The
Intergovernmental Panel on climate change, has concluded that the
reason why it has increased is because of the increase in anthropogenic
greenhouse gas concentrations. Solar variation and volcanoes probably
had a tiny warming effect till 1950. There are at least 30 scientific
societies of science, which have endorsed the basic conclusions. During
the 21st century, the average global surface will most likely rise 1.1
to 6.4 degrees Celsius, which is indicated by the IPPC
(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
Causes for Global warming
Earth's climate
change still remains an active field of research. The scientific
consensus identifies the levels of greenhouse gases as the main cause.
There are several hypotheses that have been suggested to explain the
increase in global temperature. One of the hypotheses says that warming
may be the result of different variations in solar activity. Climate
commitment studies says that if greenhouse gases stabilized at 2000
levels a warming of 0.5 degrees Celsius will still occur.
How does Global
warming affect you?
The increase in global
temperature will make it so sea level rises and increase the intensity
of weather events. And it will also change the
amount of precipitation. Some other effects of global warming include:
farming, irrigation, growing seasons, glacier retreat, species
extinctions, and rises in the disease vectors.
Global warming poses a tremendous threat for the Earth and
civilization as it is now. It should be taken seriously and everyone
should do what they can to help slow down the process down and to help
improve conditions. This may include: recycling, conservation, and
protecting our environments.
